so sweet in pink
The love, support and kindness that has been extended to my little family through these last few months is truly humbling. I honestly don't know if there are words that do my feelings justice. How do I express my gratitude? There has been a roller coaster of emotions. Times when I have felt so completely lonesome. But as I kneel at night, there is no denying how blessed we have been. The feelings of being left behind are gone and I feel so surrounded by support. I would like to thank you, for all the kind words that come to me through e-mails and little notes. Meals dropped off. Little treasures like this sweet little pink outfit made with love. These little things mean so much more than you know. From Merin, Ysa, myself and my little family I would like to thank you. I know its not much. And I will do all I can to pay it forward. But thank you from the very bottom of my heart.
Love,
Eden.

What a wonderful woman you are by taking on the responsibility that you have. This world is truly blessed to have someone like you in it's midst. I'm so sorry for your loss and I pray you find some contentment in knowing that you have done all you can do and that they are smiling down from Heaven at you now. God bless you and I wish you the best.
You're an inspiration to us all. And those pictures are just the sweetest.
What an amazing person you are. Keep on doing what you're doing and good luck with everything
Your strength for your family is incredible. Thank you for being willing to show up sacrificially in the lives of those around you.
You clearly photograph from the heart and what a beautiful heart it is! Much peace, love and light to you as you heal from your loss and give your sister the most amazing gift anyone could give: cherishing her girl.
Eden,
We do not know each other but from your blog I can tell that you are wonderful and caring person. Little Ysa is SO lucky to have you in her life. Your pictures are an inspiration as well, you are truly gifted. Stay strong and keep on paying it forward, it works wonders!
You are so thoughtful and caring to have taken your niece under your wings to protect her, love her and raise her. She is a beautiful littrle girl who will brighten many peoples lives because she has the love and hope from her parents in heaven, and kindness and support from you and your family. She is a miricle and will grace your life everyday. It is never easy to lose someone, but remember that your sister lives in her and through her... she is only gone in form, not spirit. Keep your head up, and stay strong! You are doing an amazing job, don't ever let yourself think other-wise!
Wow. You are an inspiration. And what a blessing you are to so many people. As amazing a gift you have with photography it doesn't come close to matching the gift you have of changing people's lives.
What an amazing job you are doing! Beautiful family and stunning photo's!
I just wanted to let you know that I am really inspired by your strength and selflessness during what must be such a difficult time.
The photos are so lovely and she is so lucky to have family like you.

Hi Eden,
Just wanted to send you a note from the frozen north of Calgary, Alberta Canada, to say, what an amazing talent you have! I so enjoyed looking at your art.
Also, I am so sorry for the loss of your sister and brother-in-law. There are no words, so just know that there are lots of people out there sending their love and best wishes and thoughts your way.

You, my dear, have to be one of the most inspiring woman ever. You are so loved, and God is going to continue to bless you. And you photography is AMAZING :) <3
Oh my, how wonderful you, and your man, are.
And the love and support you provide for your sister and brother-in-law's little one shines like light from your photographs of her.
I never had a sister ever, would have really liked that, even for a day. Instead I turn my friends into pretend sisters.
What a darling pink outfit! And love knitted into every stitch.
Your strength through your loss and new challenges that you voluntarily took on is amazing. You are a wonderful woman and deserve the support you are given.
You are beautiful.
You are stronger than you know.
Never give up on yourself.
Use your amazing photography and your beautiful soul as your guides through this journey, everything you need is inside you.
You are so inspiring and a true gift to so many.
My, oh my. What an incredible gift you have given to your sister, her husband and this beautiful baby. Your are trully an inspiration.
The responsibility you are undertaking in this incredible time of sorrow is so inspiring and heartwarming.
With great tragedy comes tremendous blessings. While your sister has passed, you will get to be reminded of her through Ysa's laugh, expressions, movements, voice...
I am sure you are still very much full of sorrow. Don't be afraid to be sad or to cry or to do the things you need to do to comfort and care for yourself. Also, don't be afraid to feel joy or to laugh or to feel peace, for those are feelings your sister is certainly experiencing knowing you are taking such good care of her baby girl.
Love and hugs to you and your family,
M
You have a beautiful blog, and an absolutely GORGEOUS family! Words and pictures overflowing with love... know that you and yours are loved back, even by strangers.
What a beautiful baby! And how luck she is to have someone to take such good care of her. As difficult as everything must be, I am sure it will get better. You are doing something truely wonderful!

You have such a beautiful family! Ysa is a lucky girl to have all your photos and memories, and of course your love and willingness to take care of her.
I'm truly sorry for your loss. It's always shock to lose someone you care about so suddenly. It will get easier, and having your lovely little ones around you will help so much.
Thank you for taking her in and adding her to your home. She'll always know she's loved.
I'll be praying for you guys. Your photography is beautiful. :)
God bless you in this time. What you have decided to do is so incredibly selfless, and so filled with both strife and joy. You are an incredibly special person for taking on such a responsibility, and do not ever forget it. There is a ton of love headed your way, I hope you know that and never forget it. Keep being amazing.

What a beautiful little girl. I treasure the beauty of your little family.
Your photos are so beautiful they made me cry! Thank you for sharing so much love.
The first time I heard of Merin and Michael's passing the song "Families Can Be Together Forever" leaped into my mind. It made me reevaluate some of the challenges I've been having with respect to the Gospel. There are many blessings that come out of tragedies, thank you for the one this brought to my life.
Ysa is blessed to have you. Your strength amazes me. Your photography is beautiful. Your love is beautiful.
Stay strong! Just know that there are people thinking of you and your family.
BTW--Absolutely beautiful photography!
What a wonderful family you are. Ysa will forever cherish that you too her as your very own.
Loving my own sisters so much, loving my children beyond comprehension, I have tears in my eyes trying to imagine how it all must feel. So much love, underscored by an enormous loss.
You are doing amazing things, and capturing it beautifully.
how wonderful that your sister has you there to care for her sweet little girl. as parents, we are borrowing these beautiful little people anyway. i don't think many children have as much love surrounding them as little ysa must have.
i know that families are forever and what an incredible family you have. we're blessed to know your sister is there with you and always will be.
Your strength and selflessness are an inspiration. Thank you for doing this <3
You are doing a truly amazing thing. I'm sending many good wishes your way.

You have such a big heart! So sorry for the loss of your sister. I cant even imagine. You will be with her again someday. Have faith in that. Praying for continued comfort and healing. What a precious, beautiful lil gift she is <333
Wow- Ysa is a blessed little girl to have you and your husband step up like this and love her as if she is your own. She is yours, now, perhaps through tragedy, but she is bathed in the light and the beauty of family. Continue using your strength and love to raise her, and she will be just fine:)
Your strength is inspiring and motivating. The gift that you have given your family is one of self-less and bounding love. Ysa is so blessed to have someone who will teach her that same love and to give to the world, as you have done. She is lucky to have someone who loved her parents so, and she will always cherish the little things that only you could share with her about your sister. I am in awe of you and what you’ve chosen. God Bless!
Ysa is such a beautiful little girl, and those are such adorable pictures of her! I'm glad to hear that you have had so much love and support. You and your family have been in my prayers, especially over the holidays, and I know many other people have been praying for you and thinking of you as well.
I love that you said thanks from Merin too. I always picture her looking down and being so glad and grateful that Ysa was born into an amazing extended family with so much love. She is being so well cared for, and you are such a great mome. Judging by Aubrie, Ysa will be just as amazing a person as Merin.
Not only are you blessed, you are a blessing to the people around you. Your strength to smile and give thanks inspires me and lifts my heart. Thank YOU.
my heart and thoughts are with you. what a beautiful family you had, have and will grow. i completely understand about feeling joyful and sorrowful all in one moment. keep pushing on, keep loving those around you. it will be ok.
I can't get over your beautiful photography. Thank you for sharing it with all of us. Bless you for being so brave, and for your faith in God and his plan. You can do hard things.
To have accepted this beautiful baby girl as your own and given her a loving family is the greatest gift, as she will be to you and your husband. Blessings to you all.
It is so very sad to hear of your family's tragedy. How blessed you are to be able to raise that beautiful little girl who will be a living, loving reminder of your sister and brother in law. Bless the three of you.
Eden, my condolences for your losses which are so great. You are so brave to have done what you have done and I really wish you all the best in the future as you raise your sister's baby. How blessed you all are to be in each others lives.
Your photography is simply breathtaking as well, what great memories you will have to share with the baby when she is older!
Prayers and blessings to you and your family.
Your strength and courage are inspirational, and this adorable little girl will grow up loving and admiring you. What a blessing that you will have each other and will always be able to treasure the memory of your sister and her husband. Keep your chin up!
Your pictures are beautiful and so sweet. I pray you continue to be blessed as you raise your sister's daughter and create new memories with her. God bless.
I think you are amazing
What a doll! I am glad to read about your strength and positive vibes. I know your family has changed in ways you never expected, but I wish you all the best - and who couldn't be won over by those sweet little cheeks?
Love,

Everything about this post is.
Ysa is a beautiful baby, and so blessed to have an Auntie like you in her life - to raise her and adore her as her mama would. As a fellow big sister, I know your heart, and I know your sister appreciates everything you will do for Ysa today and in the future. She is proud of you! I know this because my baby sister and her family are moving in with my family to help take care of my 2 kids while our soon to arrive daughter faces open heart surgery. Sisters are truly blessings, our best friends, and the best mothers we can wish for in our absence. God bless you and yours as you mourn your loss and celebrate Ysa and her future!
So beautiful and sad and lovely and heartbreaking and yet somehow at the end, wonderful and amazing. Ysa is so lucky to have you!
What a beautiful girl, beautiful photos, beautiful words, and beautiful love. You are so amazing in every way and I'm sure your sister is smiling down on your beautiful soul.
< 3
What a bitter-sweet story! You have come so far with your mourning and have embraced the gift your sister left you. I can only hope that if I were to be slammed by such a terrible trauma, like losing a loved one, I would be able to cope with it in the grace that you have. I'm also a lover of photography and I see how much it has helped you in your process. Your sister is in heaven smiling at how happy you are making her little girl.
Hugs!!!!
Ysa is very lucky to have found a home with you guys. Praying for you and your family. Good luck!
Blessing can sometimes be hidden within tragedy. The loss of your sister will never really go away - but I hope there is some comfort in knowing that your niece is clearly being raised by someone who adores and cherishes her everyday.
I came across this poem and I thought you might find some comfort.
Sorting It Out by Philip Booth
At the table she used to sew at,
he uses his brass desk scissors
to cut up his shirt.
Not that the shirt
was that far gone: one ragged cuff,
one elbow through;
but here he is,
cutting away the collar
she long since turned.
What gets to him finally,
using his scissors like a bright claw,
is prying buttons off:
after they've leapt,
spinning the floor, he bends
to retrieve both sizes:
he intends to
save them in some small box; he knows
he has reason to save; if only he knew
where a small box
used to be kept.

You're in my prayers. What a beautiful child. She is very lucky to have you and your husband to take care of her.
I don't know you, but I am deeply inspired by how strong you've been in the face of tremendous loss. Love, prayers, and best wishes to you and your little family <3
I admire your strength Eden. May God shower his blessings on you and your family. Keep the faith and HE will walk with you every step of the way. I lost a younger sister (age 29, in a freak auto accident), who left behind a husband and 2 1/2 yr old son. I know a little bit about what you are feeling, but, that was 21 years ago now and there are days when the emotions still run high. Mostly when I am tired and frustrated I get mad at her.
Keep look up and remember to breathe....you will get through it. oxoxox
You are an inspiration. Know you are blessed. I am going to bookmark your website in the hopes that when the time comes you would honour us by photographing one or both of my daughters weddings.

Your photography is beautiful... memories are forever captured on film. Beauty comes in many forms, but the best one of all is the selfless giving and love that you shower upon a little girl who unfortunately lost her parents but gained another amazing set that loves her even more.
Your sister lives on... in this beautiful little girl.
I'm so sorry for the loss of your sister. But what you are doing for her and her beautiful daughter is such an amazing gift. The world is a better place through beautiful people like you. xx

May God Bless all of you and give you comfort.

Dear Eden,
You don't know me but you inspire me everyday. I love reading your blog and am amazed at your photography. I have cried thinking how hard it is on you, your parents, your siblings and your husband and children to have lost Merin and Michael so tragically. It is always so difficult to understand when death comes seemingly too soon. I know the sadness must be unbearable at times. You and your family handle it all with such incredible grace. Your parents instilled such good values in you and now you do the same with your little family. You are amazing. May God Bless you dear.
Dear Eden, you are so inspiring and strong! Ysa is so lucky to have you. You are amazing and I'm sending love and support your way!
Ysa is absolutely beautiful! And she will continue to bring so much joy to you. You are an inspiration and thank you for sharing your beauty and strength with all of us.
Thank you for sharing your story with us all, I feel the same as everyone else here, I feel for the sadness and my heart has melted to see what you have made of it all.
Dear Eden,
You are so brave, courageous, and strong for taking on the task of raising Ysa, while mourning your lost.
You are an inspiration to the world. I hope you know that. Best of luck with everything in your life. I hope things start to get better as time passes by.
Love, hugs, and prayers,
Carol
The pictures are adorable. I just want to say that you and your family are in my prayers. *hugs*
Gods blessings to you and your family may you have peace with your loss and happiness with what you have been given!
You have absolutely wonderful photography skills. I can't even imagine how you must feel to take on such a task as you are, but I do believe that the two of you will save each other. There is nothing better in this world when you're trying to process losing someone or more than one person as knowing that there's someone else out there who's with you on it. This little girl will most definitely love you so very much.
Just in these few words you posted I can tell your heart's in the right place, and that's what's important. Stay strong!
You are such an inspiration. Your story is beautiful and moving and you are such a strong, selfless woman. I admire you.
Can't beat sisterly love.
Sending hugs and prayers.... may your future be filled with much love and many blessings.
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am in a thousand winds that blow,
I am the softly falling snow.
I am the gentle showers of rain,
I am the fields of ripening grain.
I am in the morning hush,
I am in the graceful rush
Of beautiful birds in circling flight,
I am the starshine of the night.
I am in the flowers that bloom,
I am in a quiet room.
I am in the birds that sing,
I am in each lovely thing.
Do not stand at my grave bereft
I am not there. I have not left.

Sending more love your way. What a beautiful girl, you must be so grateful to have a piece of your sister with you all the time.
Jenn
Is it me? Or does she look just like Miss Aubrie in those pictures! DARLING! I love you Eden!
ysa is so lucky to have you and I am sure that she will grow a wonderful lady with a beautiful heart like you.
Eden,
I live in Calgary and heard your very sad story last summer... it broke my heart then and even more so now. It's so heartbreaking and beautiful all at the same time. I can't imagine how much you miss Merin and Mike. You're blessed with their presence in litle Ysa but the daily reminders must be hard.
So much love to you for opening your home and your heart to this little baby while you are grieving the loss of your little sister. Take comfort in the piece of her that you have in your heart and your hands.
Even though it is just horribly unfair that Merin has left this earth already, and is missing out on so much... though you would give anything to give her more time here with you, Ysa, your family.. You continue to honour her, Mike, and Ysa through your postings and your photos. I am sure Merin is so very proud of you and grateful to you for all that you are doing. Keep her in your heart until you meet again.
You all seem to be doing pretty great, which is awesome. If you ever need anything at all, post it on this blog and Calgary will rally around you to help.
Much love,
Jackie
Thank you so much for all the incredibly thoughtful, and loving words.
love
eden.
Losing your sister must be the most awful thing you could experience. But I hope it's some comfort to you to know that she lives on in her daughter, and that by raising her with love you are paying the most beautiful and lasting tribute you possibly could to your sister's memory.
I am so sorry for your loss. This little baby is a beautiful blessing. I hope your future is filled days of happiness and joy.
Im so sorry for all that you have been through in the past few months. That baby is SO blessed to have you taken care of her. Thoughts and prayers are with you! You are doing a remarkable job!!!
I am so sorry for your loss. I can't even imagine the grief you must be feeling. I am glad that you have this beautiful little creature in your life to help keep a part of your beloved sister alive in your life and heart. She seems like a true joy, which is what I hope she brings to you in these sad times. You are an amazing person for caring for little Ysa and for carrying on; your strength is an inspiration for us all, and we are here for you. We love you and send you blessings and hugs.
Your story really touched me. Your sister's little girl is so adorable and so fortunate to have such a wonderful auntie and momma. Sending you healing thoughts.
She is absolutely gorgeous, what a sweetie! And you are so, so strong. Keep your chin up and keep smiling, you've got the whole world behind you. You are in my thoughts.
Beautiful pictures of a beautiful baby! Thinking of and praying for you & your loved ones.
Eden,

As a mother, I can't imagine my leaving the earth while my child is still on it. But as a mother, I can't imagine anything that brings more comfort and relief than to know that wonderful people are there to care for my kids. You and your husband are giving Ysa such a gift to raise her. That you can give her a life of memories about her parents and an unconditional love is amazing. You are a strong woman -I'm so glad to know people like you are out there.
Ysa has grown so much. I love the six month age. Their faces have such personality. You have been such an example of strength to all of us Eden. Your Faith and positive outlook inspire me.
